Chineham Park has donated 500 drinking glasses to children’s hospice Naomi House. The glasses were used in a photo shoot but no longer needed at Chineham Park.
Rupert Batho, Managing Director at MEPC Chineham Park, wanted to find a way to put them to good use. He says: “Once the glasses had fulfilled their purpose, I knew that they should not just be thrown away. As we have supported Naomi House in the past, we made contact to see if they would be put to good use there”.
Tina Starbuck, Corporate Fundraiser at Naomi House said: “We are always grateful for donations like this as it means our resources can be put to better use. The glasses are used regularly at the hospice and we are very thankful to Chineham Park for thinking of Naomi House. WE really appreciate the continuing support we receive from Rupert and his team. ”

Chineham Park Coach Takes SchoOlympians to the Starting Line
Earlier this month, four primary schools from Basingstoke, came together to take part in the SchoOlympics organised by Hampshire County Council.
The SchoOlympians were picked up from their school and taken to Popley Community Centre on the Chineham Park Coach that had been donated to them for the day.
The four schools; Winklebury Junior, Great Binfields Primary, Four Lanes Primary and Oakridge Junior, took part in an opening and closing ceremony with the main event focus on football, netball and rounders.
The community came together, with the local Tesco branch making a SchoOlympic torch, and with several Community Safety Patrol Officers on hand to help.
The Chineham Park Coach, which runs on chip fat fuel, and Chineham Park Coach driver, visited each school individually and transported the children to this fun sporting event. It returned at the end of the day to take them back to their schools in time for home time.
Robert Green, Team Leader of the Community Safety Patrol Officers, Hampshire County Council said: “We wanted to run an event that would bring the schools together. Being the Olympic year, we thought this would be a great opportunity for the four schools to take part in a school Olympic event.“
“As this was very much about the community coming together, we asked Chineham Park if we could use their Coach and they very kindly agreed. The Coach driver did an amazing job on the day, getting all the children to and from Popley Community Centre safely and on time.”
Richard Hawkes, Estate Manager for MEPC Chineham Park said: “Robert and the rest of his team work very hard with the communities in north Basingstoke, specifically with local schools. Donating our eco friendly Coach for the day to transport the schools to and from the SchoOlympics was an easy decision to make. At Chineham Park we are always looking for ways of engaging with the local community and providing help where we can.”
